Ask me for the moon

Church of St Xavier MalaccaI gaze upon the night-lit sky
Onto a moon so round and bright
Ten thousand miles apart
I can see its beauty
I can feel you
Basking under the same moonlight

Its glistening whiteness
Reminds how you have brightened my life
Of the smiles you bring
Of the wisdom you impart
Of the care you so freely give
It makes me wonder
Are you my angel?

You make my heart flutter
You make it go pitter-patter
Taking tiny steps closer towards you

There’s nothing I will not do
Just to be with you
Ask me for the moon
And I will give it to you

Pearls of Wisdom from a Daiso cup

Words of Wisdom

I was shopping at my fave everything-$2 store when I chanced upon these two cups at eye level, nicely stacked up and shouting for my attention. I wonder if God is sending me a secret message. I know you can tell fortune through coffee grind, but this is a first through cups. Well, life’s short. Guess I gotta start kissing my frogs – maybe I will break the spell and turn one of them into my Prince Charming :)
Has anything interesting happened to you lately?

I got my Singing Bone Hello Kitty!

Mcdonalds Hello Kitty

Hello Kitties! :)
The kitty fever has hit the island of Singapore again, courtesy of Mcdonalds

Mcdonalds Hello Kitty

McDonald’s Hello Kitty Fairy Tale series
I have a soft spot for the mouthless cat, and have been faithfully collecting the special edition plushies from Mcdonalds since school days. I remember sleepless nights queuing up outside a shopping mall, getting Dad to drive me around Singapore in search of the elusive Kitties, and most of all – making friends with people in the queue and arranging to queue for more kitties together.

Although I think I am a bit overaged now, the words “Hello Kitty” and “Fairy Tales” made my heart waver, and I found myself eating Mcdonalds every week just to get the cats. It was easy at first, and got more difficult with every next Kitty released which sold out in 3 days, then within a day, then in just one morning. So for the last Kitty in the series, I made up my mind to make effort to get it since it was also my favourite of the lot.

The limited edition Singing Bone
It was so limited – it sold out in a mere 15 minutes. I thought I was crazy enough to go specially go to a McDonalds at 12 midnight, but apparently I was not the only one – people had started queuing since 9pm the night before! LOL it’s pure madness. Even the haze left them unfazed. It’s a Singapore phenomenon.

Singaporeans love to queue
And we queue for many things – apartments, N95 masks, food and Hello Kitty.
Photo of the crazy queues that formed the night before The Singing Bone Kitty went on sale at 0000hrs, taken by my friend.

And where did they end up? eBay. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this bid – only 2 hours and it has reached S$1,000???! I can buy a real cat. Or a nice handbag. Or save a small village.

Mcdonalds Hello Kitty

Hmmm…can I eat this? Cannot? Then why buy?? I’m cuter, meow.
I managed to land myself one kitty, phew. I can sleep in peace tonight. Yawn. Gosh, I am so crazy! zzzzzzzz…*drool* *knockout* *snore*

Photography – How does your sunrise look like?

Kota Kinabalu Sunrise from Gaya Island

I dreamt of a Kinabalu Sunrise
I loved the beautiful naturalistic landscape of Gaya Island so much, the image of the sun slowly climbing up Kota Kinabalu in the morning still remains fresh in my mind. I dreamt of it last night, and it seemed so surreal…the gorgeous sun, mountainous landscape, dramatic skies, therapeutic sounds of sea waves, well-complimented with the happy chirping of birds and inquisitive monkeys.

Singapore Sunrise

Singapore’s Urban Sunrise
And this is the urban jungle I wake up to every morning – concrete mountains of flats, metal cranes building more concrete nests, school bells chiming and the roar of vehicles. The upside? No mosquitoes and air-con! LOL

Show Luo ‘Over The Limit’ 羅志祥舞极限演唱会 – Superb SHOWmanship

羅志祥舞极限演唱会 Show Luo Concert

Oh god, why is this happening to me?
With the number of technical glitches that happened during the night, Show Luo must be wondering if he got out of the wrong side of bed that day. But it was also one of the best concerts I have been to, and the multi-talented Taiwanese star demonstrated why he is Asia’s Dancing King and a top-notch host.

I was of two minds if I should go catch Show Luo’s Over The Limit 2013 World Live Tour in March, and was glad I did. The night was fraught with technical glitches due to a faulty sound system, but Xiao Zhu (as he is affectionately called by his fans) managed to overcome the embarrassing situation with witty banter and self-deprecating humour. And the audience lapped it all up. If he ever decides to call it quits in showbiz, I know he certainly has a talent at crisis management!

As for me – the technical glitch was a blessing in disguise – I was finally convinced that the dude CAN sing as well as he dances :D It also gave more time for him to interact with the audience; he was ever friendly, humorous, and down-to-earth…just the way I remembered first seeing him on TV and getting addicted to his show.

And this is where the intermittent technical glitches turned serious – and went pitch blank
The sound system konked out in the middle of a dance number, and the performer had to stop abruptly. Xiao Zhu looked like either he was going to cry, or burst out in vulgarity

For 15 minutes while waiting for the sound system to be restored, Xiao Zhu put his hosting skills and quick wit to good use, chatting with the crowd and teasing him with his well-toned body.

He also called his assistant on stage to apply oil on his arms to make them look bigger. I WANT HER JOB.

To buy time, the performer even broke out in a Hokkien song 爱拼才会赢 – to the delight of the audience. Shortly after, the sound system came back on to his great relief. I wondered what he was going to do next if the technical glitch carried on…I would welcome a burlesque show! LOL
