Honey Creme – Insta-licious Soft Serve Ice Cream

Honey Creme
Honey Creme, a Korean-style dessert chain from Taiwan has just opened its first Singapore store at 313@Somerset. It was with much anticipation that I went to try the much-hyped about handmade soft serve ice cream.

Honey Creme

The ice cream parlor is located just in front of 313 Somerset’s taxi stand. I was pretty dreadful about the expected long queue, so thankfully it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I got my dessert in 25 minutes.

Honey Creme

Honey Creme offers just one soft serve ice-cream flavour, which is the original milky Honey Creme. The secret lies in its very interesting toppings which include honeycomb, organic cotton candy, mixed grains, affogato and caramel popcorn. I am drooling while typing this…

Honey Creme

During the short 25 minutes I was there, it seemed that the whole world was so excited about their ice ream, taking wefies after wefies…of them queuing, with their ice cream….it felt nice to witness the social prowess of a humble soft serve. The atmosphere felt happy and no one griped about the queue.

Honey Creme

Overheard from the couple behind:
Girl: “Wah, queue so long, we must buy at least 3 or 4 cups to make our time worth.”
Guy: “You can eat so much meh?!”
Girl: “Don’t care, I cannot finish you will eat for me.”
I tried very hard not to laugh. I stuck to just one order, can’t afford the fats.

Honey Creme

The many variations of one soft serve flavour, which is your favourite? :)

Another interesting offering is the Organic Mixed Grains ($6.20) with flax seeds, oats, black beans, rye and barley.Image: Honey Creme Singapore

I was lured by this tantalizing honeycomb

There is a small dining space which can accomodate about 18 pax, though most will choose to takeaway.

Honey Creme

My choice of the day: Honey Comb!
The taste of the soft serve was smooth, milky and light. It paired very well with the honeycomb and felt almost sinless wolfing it down. I would probably wait for the hype to be over before I venture to try other flavours though. And now my turn to Insta my ice cream *click + hashtag #HoneyCremeSG* :)

Creamier – Ice Cream & Waffles in the Heartlands

Creamier

Teatime for today is Creamier’s signature waffles with a scoop of Honey Yuzu Lemon and Thai Milk Tea

I have been hearing so much about Creamier lately, I just had to risk an expanding waistline for a visit. There must be something special about this place if what I hear about the little cafe is “It’s always packed!” “I had to wait over an hour for my waffles!” “Very nice!” Well, let’s find out… :)

Creamier

I was quite amused to find the ice-cream parlor tucked below a block of housing flats in Toa Payoh (Singapore’s oldest housing estate), next to a PAP education centre. And it’s packed to the brim. Luckily there’s an open-air area just in front of the cafe where I promptly plonked myself down to enjoy my dessert; no need to squeeze and I can enjoy the breeze!

Creamier

Creamier’s ice cream is churned fresh in their kitchen using only natural quality ingredients. Coffee beans are from specialty coffee micro-roaster Papa Palheta so it should be a good cuppa. The big draw here are the waffles though…you haven’t been to Creamier if you haven’t tasted their waffles.

Creamier

Ooooo….what a palette! Can I have every one of each? :p
The ice cream comes in pretty interesting flavours such as Cucumber Ume Sorbet, Chocolate Peppercorn, Guava Orange Peel Sorbet and White Peach Chardonnay, and those who veer towards ‘safer’ tastes can try the popular Sea Salt Gula Melaka or a Plain Ole Chocolate.

Creamier

The little cafe is packed most of the time, so come during off-peak hours (weekday afternoons) or be prepared to wait for a table. And then wait for your waffles.

Creamier

Don’t want to wait for a table? Get a cone and enjoy it with friends on the bench outside! :)

Creamier

Better still, work out while you pig out! How cute :D

Creamier

We enjoyed our visit to Creamier. The ice cream tastes richer than the usual ones from ice cream parlous (now I know why they are called Creamier), and I appreciated that they had many interesting flavours. The springy waffles were crispy to every bite, even after 15 minutes. The little cafe will be on my mind whenever I am craving ice cream now :)

Once upon a time…at a beach with peace, love & ice cream

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

Once upon a time, there lived an adorable blue creature named Smurfat who lived in Smurf Village. One day, she was craving for ice cream and heard that there was a fair called Ben & Jerry’s Chunkfest by a beach called Siloso at Sentosa where there would be lots and lots of ice cream. So off she went in search of dessert…

To protect herself on the journey, she wore a metal body harness and brought along Hoot her wise owl and a dog. As she could be quite forgetful, she sewed her key into a leather pouch and wore it around her neck.

She was greeted by the sun, golden sand, singing and coconut trees when she arrived at the fair…and wasted no time in getting acquainted with the place and the earthlings there.

Always great to have a map in hand…which area to find cute male earthlings?

Armed with her FairCoins, she skipped & hopped to explore the fair

Ooh,the earthlings have blue houses like Smurfat’s mushroom house too!

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

Smurfat found a curious-looking cow which walked on twos

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

Seems that the cows gravitate towards pretty creatures…like Smurfat :)

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

There were games to be played at the fair…Smurfat always loves adventures

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

She saw male earthlings with really droopy boobs going at each other…the sight was so disturbing even the referee had a headache

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

And earthlings with big paws playing ball

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

As well as earthlings who hopped rather than walked with two legs. How very strange creatures.

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

Udderly stuffed, udderrerly stufmpted, urrdery stuffud…

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

Guess the number of sugar cones and win. Smurfat just wanted to eat the cones.

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

Smurfat was happy to see that the fair supported good causes such as Project Happy Feet to raise funds for the education of underprivileged children in Singapore and Cambodia..

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

And then she saw a tiny yellow earthling engrossed with his own hands…

And a cute purple little flower fairy

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

After all the adventures, Smurfat got hungry and was ready to feast on ice cream. There were 20 flavours to choose from, with 15 of the flavours specially flown in for ChunkFest 2012…Mmmm, Smurfat’s spoilt for choice!

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

She settled on a Late Night Snack as it sounded as strange as it could get.

Smurfat was still hungry and went in search for a hot dog. No, not the male earthling…she wanted real food.

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

She spotted earthlings taking part in a ‘Vermonster’ eating challenge – the fastest to devour 20 scoops of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream wins. 20 scoops?!

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

Spoons and personal image were forgotten – they dug into the ice cream with their bare hands and stuffed in into their mouths. Smurfat lost her craving for ice cream.

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

Ben & Jerry’ launched their latest flavour by asking people to take photos with their Maple Tree Mascot. Smurfat thinks the young earthling on the left got it wrong – that’s your mum, not a tree!

Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2012

Smurfat was happy hugging a coconut tree herself. After a day of adventure, Smurfat went home happy, back to Smurf Village and resumed her diet of mushrooms and no-carb food with Pussy Smurf.
~THE END~
