I recently went to watch Eason Chan’s first outdoor concert at Marina Bay Sands. I have heard many of the talented crooner’s songs courtesy of karaoke sessions with chum Darren (thank goodness D did a good job with them), and Eason’s mischievous demeanour is simply a delight to me, so I was quite excited to see him in person. It’s like seeing a male me :D
Eason must have brought all the ‘wealth’ with him, because it rained tigers and elephants (meaning – much worse than cats and dogs) just before the concert was due to start. The concert was delayed for about an hour, but it didn’t dampen my spirits as I took shelter and pleasure in window-shopping at the shopping mall (talk about making good use of time!).
Eason belted out his award-winning classic love melodies and new Canto songs, and was in pretty good form. He seemed genuinely excited to be performing on stage after a month-long rest. The crooner was plagued with a trouble with his voice because of his busy schedule and lack of rest, as well as put on a relative amount of weight while resting from an operation on a ligament injury. He was at his usual giggly and mischievous self, making cheeky jokes (“It must be really uncomfortable having to wear protection through the night” in Mandarin, referring to our yellow rain ponchos) and chatting with the audience. He even blew a kiss!
Here’s an interview that he did prior to the concert. Awesome concert which I enjoyed very much – it was worth the rain and wait. Can’t wait for Eason to come back to Singapore again soon. Or maybe, time for me to fly to Hong Kong!
